語法
英 語 “This is an apple” 和“That is a pen”和漢語的順序是一樣的。英語語法和漢語語法有很多相同的地方。在這兩句話中，有一點需要提一下。在蘋果apple 之前為甚麼用an, 而筆pen之前為甚麼用a? a 和an 這兩個字都是一的意思。在英語中很少用量詞，所以翻譯的時候我們可以加上量詞。比如說量詞個，量詞支，等等。
英語的字母
Lee= A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W,X, Y, Z.
英 語字母分成兩個組，一組叫元音，在英語中只有5個元音，其他都是輔音。這些元音是 A, E, I, O, U. 剩下的字母都是輔音。輔音字母不用單獨記，你們只要把元音字母記下來就可以了。所以，如果一個字是由元音開始的，前面一定要用an。為甚麼用an呢﹖為了 發音方便和好聽。
請看例子
This is an apple. ”Apple” This is an envelope. “Envelope”“Apple”和“Envelope”兩個詞的第一個字都是以元音開始。“apple”的第一個字母是“envelope.”的第一 個字母是E。所以我們在這兩個字的前面要用an This is an apple。 This is an envelope. This is a pen. This is a lamp. This is a book.
問句﹕
Is that a pen?
那是一支筆嗎﹖
Yes, it is.
對， 是。
Is this your pen?
這是你的筆嗎﹕
Yes, it is. Thank you.
對，是。謝謝
Is that a book?
那是一本書嗎﹖
No, it isn't. It is an envelop.
不，不是。那是一個信封。
Is this your lamp?
這是你的燈嗎﹕
No, it isn't. This is your lamp.
不，不是。這是你的燈。
Oh, yes, thank you.
噢，對了，謝謝
Is that my apple?
那是我的蘋果嗎﹖
No, it isn't. It's my apple.
不，不是，那是我的蘋果。
It在這裡指已說過的東西，也有它和這的意思。not 的意思是不。is not ，是“不是”的意思。isn't 是is not 的縮寫。
