| 在前一個章節我已經教過大家，通常接待員看見你的第一句會問："May I help you?"「有甚麼可以幫忙嗎？」這時候你就要說明來意了。今天我的來意是甚麼呢？ 今天我是來見你公司的大老闆史密斯先生，所以我說："I´m here to see Mr. Smith." 「我是來見史密斯先生的。」或者可以說："I´d like to see Mr. Smith, please." |
| 對話 A：Excuse me. 甲：對不起。 B： Yes? 乙：有甚麼事嗎﹖ A： Is this October Pictures Limited? 甲：這裡是不是拾月堂有限公司呢﹖ B：Yes, it is. 乙：是的。 A：I´d like to see Mr. Smith, please. I have an appointment at three. 甲：麻煩你，我想見史密斯先生，我們約好了三點鐘見面。 B：This is the back door. Would you go to the reception desk on the other side of this building? 乙：這兒是後門，請你到大廈另外一邊的接待處吧。 A：Oh, I see. Yes, thank you. 甲：喔，好的，謝謝你。 I´d like to see Mr. Smith, please."「我想見一見史密斯先生。」這時秘書小姐可能會問你：「請問你有預約嗎？」"Do you have an appointment?" 當然有啦，不然我怎麼會來呢，這時候你就應該把預約的情況詳盡告訴人家："I have an appointment with Mr. Smith at three." |

| 往公司訪問 去人家辦公處拜訪，見到接待員，可以說出自己的姓名和要拜訪的人物：Mr. Ma to see Mr. Smith.（馬先生來拜訪史密斯先生。）你也可以說：I have an appointment with Mr. Smith. Could you please tell him I´m here?（我約了史密斯先生，請通報我來了好嗎？）當然，你還可以說：I´m here to see Mr. Smith. 和 I´d like to see Mr. Smith, please. 等。 假如走到接待處時，未能肯定那是不是自己要找的公司，不妨先問問：Is this October Pictures Ltd.?（這是拾月堂有限公司嗎？）留意公司名稱一般不用冠詞 (article) the，例如：(1) I bought it from Woolworth´s.（這是我在伍爾沃思百貨公司買的。） (2) The book was published by Subculture Ltd.（這本書是次文化堂出版的。） 但是公司名稱假如有Company、Corporation等解作「公司」的字眼，則須冠以the字，例如：(1) He works with the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation.（他任職於香港上海？豐銀行。） (2) He´s got shares in an unlisted company, the Phoenix Company.（他有一家未上市公司的股票：鳳凰公司。） 不少公司雖然以company、corporation等為名，但說時往往會把這兩字略走，這樣冠詞也不用了，例如不說the Phoenix Company而說Phoenix。 Phoenix is determined to increase its share of the market. 即「鳳凰決心擴大其市場佔有率」。 |
